Jumbo Silver Property Technical Report dated Aug 15, 2007 - PDF Quick Summary The Jumbo property is centered approximately 14 kilometers northeast of the town of Slocan, in the prolific Slocan Mining Division of SW British Columbia. Relatively little exploration work had been conducted on the Jumbo property until relatively recently due to clear cut logging revealing mineralized exposures. Subsequent trenching, mapping, sampling and geological analysis asserted that the Jumbo Property contains gold-silver mineralization of epithermal origin. The geology, stratigraphy, and potential of this type of gold-silver mineralization is for the "bonanza" type of high grade precious metal ore bodies such as those more commonly associated with the American Southwest. ![]() The Jumbo Property's elevation ranges from 4,300 feet (1,310 meters) to 6,600 feet (2,012 meters) and is generally under snow until late April or early May. The property is accessible via a single paved road and a series of logging roads which give ready access to various parts of the claims. The roads are well maintained and negotiable by any vehicle when free of snow. The history of mineral exploration and discovery within the Slocan Mining Division of SW B.C. extends over century. The first major discovery occurred in 1891 when prospectors began work on what would become the rich Payne Mine. Within a year 80 subsequent discoveries were recorded in the area and 16 properties came into active production. The Slocan Mining Division has remained active to the present. In 1981, soon after the Jumbo Property was first discovered, two truck loads of ore were shipped for analysis. The first load went 0.368 oz/T gold, 6.25 oz/T silver and 3.8% lead. The second load went 0.412 oz/T gold, 7.1 oz/T silver and 4% lead. ![]() The region around the Jumbo property is predominantly underlain by rocks of the lower Cretaceous Nelson Batholith. The Nelson batholith near the property consists mainly of porphyritic granite, with lesser amounts of granodiorite, quartz diorite, quartz monzonite, diorite, monzonite and syenite. Gold-bearing quartz veins are known in the district, especially in the Lemon Creek-Springer Creek area to the south and the Aylwin Creek area to the north of the Jumbo. The economic mineralization on the Jumbo property consists of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and gold in the form of electrum associated with carbonate/quartz epithermal veins. The mineralization tends to be concentrated in high grade "pods" which have developed when the mineralizing solutions reached the appropriate confining pressure to deposit them. The property, to date, has produced approximately 45 short dry tons of ore with economic quantities of gold and silver making it an extremely attractive target for an active diamond drill program. The Jumbo property is a major focus of Canasia's 2007 exploration program.
